Module 1:To empower PhD students in terms of science communication and public engagement activities; To provide basic knowledge of science communication and the main means of communication; To provide practical skills in science communication approaches.

Module 1: Dissemination of scientific results and Public engagement
1-Introduction to Science Communication (SC) (importance of SC for scientists and society)
- Definition of Science Communication and public engagement (PE)
- Phases of Science Communication
- Personal benefits and benefits to wider society
- Science Communication methods: assessment of the target audience; Direct and indirect communication methods
2-Dissemination (theory and practice):
- Paper writing: improving the impact of your research through better scientific writing, and an enhanced appreciation of bibliometrics and scientific publishing
- At the conference: knowledge transfers in a conference setting; preparing and planning conference poster/oral presentations; poster design from the viewer’s perspective
3- Communication and Public engagement (theory and practice):
- PE: examples and approaches
- Scientific writing for the public
- Social media
- Science Communication in Schools
Module 2: Scientific Project writing
- Introduction to Project management
- Definition and Project planning (I phase). Definition of the triple constraints process; Stakeholders analysis; Scope and Objectives definition; Schedule and timing of project’ activities
- Project planning: Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication plan. Description of processes required to define DEC plan.
- Project planning: Budget (general issue concerning budget) and risk management
- Description of Horizon Europe document and how to organize project for bottom-up and top-down calls for proposals (theory and practice)
