Reproductive biology and phenology in temperate anemophilous trees and shrubs: the effects of environmental factors.
Research activities
I carried out the phenological monitoring of planted anemophilous trees and shrubs, in particular on European hazel, Corylus avellana. I collected data coming from the airborne pollen with spore-traps located in cultivated areas in different environmental conditions and I correlated the airborne pollen concentration with the meteorological parameters. I worked on phenological models based on different approaches using the software R. Therefore, I dealt with the pollen viability issue and the long term storage in order to maintain a high viabiity level for the use of stored pollen in artificial or additional pollination.
